Who can join High Altitude Roller Derby?

All skaters must be 18 or over. Anyone of any age can help support High Altitude Roller Derby through promotion, fundraising, sponsoring, volunteering, and attending events and bouts. If you love roller derby but would prefer not to skate, you may consider being a Non-Skating Official (NSO).

When can I join?

Please look over our Events Calendar. If you wish to skate, Fresh Meat boot camp dates will be posted near the Spring and Fall. Simply show up day-of to the location listed. If you have previous derby experience, or if you do not wish to skate, please contact us at any time!

Do I need to know how to skate to join Fresh Meat?

Not at all! Many of our skaters learned to skate in Fresh Meat boot camp and are some of our strongest players today!

Do I need any sports experience to play roller derby?

While it can help, our Fresh Meet boot camp is designed to provide you with the space and mentors that can help you build up your skills to become a highly skilled roller derby athlete. It is important to note that everyone progresses at different paces, thus we highly encourage our new skaters to give yourself grace as you work towards your skating goals. We are here to cheer you on! Roller derby is a physically demanding sport that requires speed, endurance, agility, strength, good awareness and communication skills. That said, many of our skaters never played sports until they discovered roller derby and have grown to be remarkable athletes. We encourage skaters to cross train outside of our regular practices in order to support improvement and prevent injury.
